Let’s find what is beautiful for us in the places where we live. Be that as it may, a close-up of a forgotten painting in a housing estate, dusty window, or skirt pattern, and even a beautiful view from a hill. Find NEW BEAUTY where others have not seen it, put it in motion in a short animation, and show it to others in our GIF gallery!

The gallery of GIFs on new beauty connects with the Searching for Beauty exhibitions where we transfer the principle of how GIFs work into objects and installations. During the years 2016 - 2018, the exposition is open for public in several European cities. The exhibition was originally made for the European Parliament's Visitors’ Centre - the Parlamentarium in Brussels. The visitors of the exhibition appreciated it to a point where it achieved record attendance, and it was later presented also in Amsterdam, during the Klik festival; in Bratislava in its home gallery - the Slovak Design Centre gallery; and in Ljubljana, in the International Centre of Graphic Arts – MGLC.

The main organiser is the Slovak Design Centre in Bratislava. The project was a part of a cultural-social presentation of the first Slovak Presidency to the Council of the European Union under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic in the year 2016. In 2018, the exhibition series takes place as a part of celebrations of anniversaries: 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Czechoslovak Republic and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Slovak Republic.

The authors of the idea for the project to connect a GIF gallery with an interactive exhibition are artists Michaela Čopíková and Veronika Obertová, who work under the brand Ové Pictures; Mária Rišková is the project’s curator.

We are grateful to our collaborators, partners, and all of you who will take part in our common search for new beauty.
